What does a local move cost in Omaha?
You've got two options: pay by the hour or settle on one fixed figure. By the hour it's $120/hr for two movers, $160/hr for three, and $210/hr for four. Done as a flat rate tied to how big the place is, budget around $380–$620 for a studio, $620–$1,050 at one bedroom, $1,050–$1,800 at two, $1,800–$2,980 at three, and $2,920–$4,600 for a four-bedroom. More stairs, a lengthy haul from wherever the truck ends up parking, or packing layered on will shift the figure a bit. Once we've gauged the home and the way in, the rate gets put on paper, and whatever that paper says is the total you owe.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes on both fronts. Our operating authority covers Nebraska and western Iowa, every interstate job runs on US DOT and MC numbers, and a $1M cargo policy backs each move. The paperwork is open for you to review whenever you like, and any time an HOA or a building wants proof of insurance on file, we issue it ahead of the move date.
What kinds of moves do you handle?
Just about every kind. Around the city or coast to coast, standalone houses or apartment units, lofts downtown, office and commercial relocations, packing, piano hauls, downsizing and senior work, climate-controlled storage, plus runs booked same-day or on short notice. Being a general mover that does the full slate means both a one-room studio and a four-bedroom bound across the map land on the schedule and travel the entire distance with crew we put on payroll ourselves.
How far ahead should I book?
Shoot for roughly two weeks ahead if you're after a Saturday or one of the final dates in a month, since that's when leases turn and the schedule tightens. A midweek slot in the middle of the month will often open with only a day or two of warning. And on any date a truck might otherwise sit unused, we'll gladly fit you in on short notice or even the same day — dial (402) 553-2840 and we'll arrange it.
Do you require a deposit?
On a job inside town, hardly ever; usually a brief confirmation by phone the day prior is enough. For the larger relocations, and anything that runs across a state border, we secure the slot with a modest refundable deposit, and that amount comes right off your final bill.
What is your service area?
We're based in Omaha and reach the full metro from there: Dundee, Field Club, Midtown, Benson, and the Old Market, out to Elkhorn, Millard, Gretna, Ralston, and Bennington, south into Bellevue, Papillion, and La Vista, and over the river to Council Bluffs. Beyond that we run regular long hauls on I-80 and I-29 toward Denver, Kansas City, Des Moines, Lincoln, and well past those.
How does parking and access work on a historic block?
Many houses over by Dundee and Field Club have zero driveway, so the truck stays at the curb the whole day, and on a busy weekend or a downtown ballpark stretch those spaces go quickly. We scope out the street first, bring the rig in as tight to your entrance as conditions allow, and if a permit from the city or a reserved spot would help, we handle it and fold any minor cost into your written figure. The upside is a shorter haul for the team, and you're spared scrambling over where to park on the day.
Is a downtown loft or an elevator building something your crew can take on?
All the time. Downtown buildings and the Old Market operate on freight-elevator bookings, dock-loading rules, and proof-of-insurance demands, and together they make up a good portion of what we do. Name the building at the time you book, and well before the ramp drops we'll reserve the elevator slot, get the loading zone squared away, and hand the manager a COI written out to them directly.
Can you handle a walk-up or a narrow historic stairway?
This is our everyday work. Picture walk-ups three stories up around Benson and Blackstone, the pinched doorways and steep runs of a Dundee or Field Club two-story, the back stairwells inside Old Market warehouses turned into lofts. Nobody picks up a box until the team has paced the route, mapped out the carry, and brought along whichever dollies, padding, and straps that staircase calls for. Tell us at booking which floor it is and what sort of stairs, and the proper equipment rolls out with us.
How does Omaha weather factor into a move?
Here the winters deliver genuine snow, ice, and blizzards, while spring hands you hail, hard wind, and now and then a tornado watch. Once it turns cold, a walkway that's been salted and shoveled is what counts most, so we lay down added floor protection and runners for the slush and work the carry around the heaviest weather. If the job has to wait while your next home gets arranged, your things rest safely in climate-controlled storage rather than sitting out through the thaw-and-refreeze cycle.
Do you offer packing and supplies?
For sure. The whole house, part of it, or only the fragile items in the kitchen and the hutch — whichever you pick, we arrive carrying cartons, wrapping paper, tape, and wardrobe boxes. Rather handle the boxing yourself? Buy the materials off us. Say at booking how much help you're after, and both the labor for packing and the supplies fold straight into the written flat figure, with nothing surfacing afterward.
Do you disassemble and reassemble furniture?
Yes, that's included. A bed frame, a sectional, a dining table, a desk — anything that has to lose its legs to clear a snug Dundee doorway or take a switchback staircase comes apart on the spot and goes back together once it lands in the new room. The crew arrives with their tools and pouches each fastener so nothing wanders off, and that's precisely how a piece too big to pass through in one go still reaches the upper floor without a scuff.
Do you move offices and commercial relocations?
Often. A good chunk of the calendar goes to suite relocations and corporate moves up and down Dodge Street, most of them scheduled overnight or on a weekend so the company keeps operating. Together with your facilities staff we sort out dock loading, the insurance paperwork, and the lift bookings, while the crew dismantles and rebuilds the conference rooms and cubicles.
Can you provide a COI for my building?
Absolutely — downtown towers, loft boards, and leasing offices throughout the metro ask for these all the time. When you book, forward us the building's exact requirements, and a certificate listing them by name arrives well ahead of moving day, with no fee attached.
Do you offer storage between moves?
We do. Going by unit size, a spot under climate control costs somewhere around $90–$240 each month, with the temperature and the humidity held level so warping and mold don't set in. The value shows the moment your next place runs late or a closing gets pushed. Everything sits wrapped and secured while you work out timing, then it comes back out whenever you say.
How do interstate moves work?
Any move over a state line operates under our US DOT and MC authority, billed either flat or by weight, and the same people who packed your place in Omaha ride along to the door at the destination. We don't pass it off, drop it on a load board, or shift it trailer-to-trailer at a warehouse somewhere mid-route. A good many of these are families pursuing fresh work, or an Offutt household reassigned to another base.
Do you move pianos and other heavy specialty items?
Glad to. An upright, a grand, a safe, a pool table, a rack of gym weights, a weighty antique — all of it moves on the correct boards, sturdy dollies, and heavy strapping. Set aside roughly $300–$460 for an upright and $540–$820 for a baby grand, billed on top of the move, because the extra muscle and equipment aren't free. Mention the item up front when booking and the rigging comes out with the team.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We take bank transfers, debit, and every major credit card. You owe nothing until the work is done at the destination and you've walked the place — and that whole flat figure had been spelled out clearly well in advance. The quote is the bill, with no unexpected line appearing once we're parked out front.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Let us know two or three days ahead about a scrapped move or a changed date and your deposit returns in full. Things come up; there's no penalty for it. And the earlier the word reaches us, the sooner that opening goes to the next family in line.
Should I tip the crew?
No gratuity is ever worked into your charge, and the quote covers everything on its own — though carrying a packed home up three Benson staircases in January has a way of prompting the gesture. Many customers land around 15 percent of the bill, split across the crew, or hand a fixed sum to each mover. That decision rests entirely with you.
